Friday October 9, 2026
Friday evening around 8pm is the embarkation on the Broedertrouw. The evening is mainly convivial and offers ample time for (renewed) introductions and sharing stories.
Saturday October 10, 2026
Getting up is followed by a substantial breakfast and the so-called Palaver. Around 9.00 we cast off. The Clipper Race will start at 10.00 with a so-called Anchorstart.
Sunday October 11, 2026
The second day of the race starts after breakfast and palaver, this time with a line start. Around five o'clock, all ships are back in and the prize-giving ceremony takes place.

Sail along in the spectacular Brandarisrace aboard the Boekanier!
Experience the Netherlands' largest sailing race up close. With up to 80 historic charter ships racing simultaneously from Harlingen to Terschelling, the Brandarisrace is a truly impressive spectacle on the water. What originally started in honor of the Brandaris lighthouse's 400th anniversary has grown into an annual tradition packed with action, tactics, and island atmosphere.

Friday, October 16 2026
Welcome aboard the Boekanier in the harbor of Harlingen from 7:00 PM. We will get to know each other, discuss the race strategy over drinks, and kick off the weekend in great company.
Saturday, October 17 2026 (Race Day!)
After a hearty breakfast, we get the ship ready for the start at 9:00 AM. Depending on wind and tides, we will arrive at the harbor of West-Terschelling in the afternoon. In the evening, we celebrate the finish at the official award ceremony followed by a lively island party.
Sunday, October 18 2026
Start the morning with a relaxed breakfast and take a stroll past the fleet of historic ships in the harbor. Around 12:00 PM, we cast off for a relaxed sail back to Harlingen—with a good chance of spotting seals resting on the sandbanks along the way. Around 3:00 PM, we moor in Harlingen and wrap up an unforgettable weekend together.

By tradition, the Bontekoerace is the last sailing race of the season. On the last weekend of October, historic sailing ships compete one last time. To then enjoy after an eventful sailing year.

From 20:00, everyone can embark on the Broedertrouw in Hoorn harbour. The evening is there for (renewed) introductions and fun on board.
Saturday October 24, 2026
After breakfast, we will prepare the Broedertrouw for the race, which will start by 10:00 am. During the afternoon, depending on weather, wind and crew, we will be back in port. Later in the afternoon, the first results will be known.
Sunday October 25, 2026
Like yesterday, we prepare the Broedertrouw for the start after breakfast. Around 11:00 am is the start. Around 14.30 is the finish, again like yesterday depending on weather, wind and crew. Around 17.00 is the prize-giving ceremony. All in all, it seems like a lot of work, but this race is also a lot of fun. It will be a great end to the sailing season!
