The Oerol Festival on the Wadden island of Terschelling is known as one of the most enjoyable and unique theatre festivals in Europe. Since its first edition in 1982, it has grown into a true phenomenon. Every year in June, the island becomes a stage for ten days of theatre, dance, street theatre, visual arts and music.
Performances are specially created for the extraordinary locations or adapted to them. From large-scale spectacles to mime, from intimate music theatre to hilarious circus acts, from westerns to interactive installations – you’ll find it all in the dunes, on the beach, in forests, on dikes, in barns and right out on the street.
And what could be better than experiencing all this up close and spending the night on board a historic sailing ship?
In 2026 you can choose between two different ships to stay overnight on, depending on when you are looking for accommodation. Please see “Travel options” for more information.

Come to Oerol on Terschelling and stay overnight on board the cosy historic sailing ship Anna Trijntje. Centrally located in the harbour of West-Terschelling, Oerol is always close by! Stay on board for one or more nights and, if you like, sail back to the harbour of Harlingen on the final Sunday of Oerol. Whatever suits you!
You can book your sleeping place for a minimum of one and a maximum of six nights during the festival. The Anna Trijntje is available from Monday 15 June until Sunday 21 June 2026. The ship has 7 cabins, each suitable for a maximum of 2 persons. This means a maximum of 14 guests can stay on board.
