Sybaris

The two masted clipper Sybaris was built in 1894 as a sailing freighter and was adjusted to ‘modern time’ several times. An all-out renovation took place in the nineties, when the ship was converted into a charter vessel. The owner chose an unusual, very spacious division of the cabins. Every cabin has its own shower and toilet, closet space and even a writing desk. That’s comfortable!

The ship is suitable for groups of 26 people and for families and school groups even up to 30 people. Due to the convenient layout with folding beds, the 7 cabins can be converted into spacious double cabins. So you can stay very comfortable with a group of 14 people. For groups of up to 14 people an adjusted price applies (on request).

Everybody can sail

Also on deck, modern day standards are taken into consideration. The riggage is manageable, which makes it possible for everybody to help set and drop the sails. And of course, there’s plenty of space to simply relax and enjoy; to listen to the wind and the birds, watch the swell and the waves and feel how the ship gains speed thanks to the elements and good seamanship.

Nautic ambiance

For drinks and meals, or just for warmth and cosiness, there’s a day time area below deck. The ambiance is nautic and atmospheric with a bar and galley, a closet filled with games and even a piano.

Skipper: Richard Koreneef

Meet Richard

“Passion and enthusiasm, those are great words I want to be led by. Sailing is in my DNA. As a little boy I sailed with my parents on the Rotte near Rotterdam. Later, I learned how to sail when I was a boy scout. After that I cautiously set foot on a charter vessel as a ship mate. It’s almost like it all just happened, like I never consciously chose to be a professional skipper. And may be that’s how it is. As skipper and owner of the Sybaris I enjoy my passion on a daily basis. My key driver is to pass on my enthusiasm for the water, wind and sailing to my guests. You’re more than welcome!”
