Since the year 2000, this three-masted barque has sailed all over the world to Antarctica and the southern Atlantic Ocean, among other places. This ship has the reputation of being a ship that really sails. And not only by the crew of different ages and nationalities; also Tall Ship lovers, with or without sailing experience, stand at the steering wheel, hoist the sails and navigate.


The ship
The 56 meter long Europe was built in 1911 in Hamburg and completely between 1986 and 1994. The interior, with lacquered wood panels, has several rooms to stay in, the deckhouse with a bar, a lounge where people eat, a library and comfortable cabins (2, 4 and 6 persons), each with its own shower and toilet. Complete bed linen and towels are provided on board, so that makes a difference! The experienced ship's cook prepares three nutritious meals every day.


Life on board
Life on board is simple, yet varied. Because everyone is assigned to the waiting system (4 hours on, 8 hours off), you quickly find yourself in a rhythm. During the watch there is a lot to do, such as sailing itself, but also helping the crew with maintenance jobs on the rig and ship. Every day you learn something new, not only about the ship, but also about the weather and animal life in the beautiful areas you visit. Purely enjoying the here and now and forgetting the daily worries: how wonderful is that?
