Dankbaarheid
The Dankbaarheid is a fast and very handy tjalk from 1890, built by the famous shipyard Duivendijk. This iron ship still has the original panelling inside. Outside you sit safely and comfortably in the sheltered cockpit, enjoying the ins and outs on board. Inside you will find a simple saloon with galley, where you can prepare meals, snacks and drinks. You can spend the night with the whole group in one bedroom, equipped with five bunk beds. For those who want to sleep separately, there are also four sofa beds in the saloon.
Active sailing is always allowed!
Let yourself be carried away in the enthusiasm of the crew and actively help with starting the engine, throwing the ship loose, sailing out of the harbour, hoisting sails, navigating etc. Nothing is necessary, everything is allowed! From Monnickendam you sail over the Marker- and IJsselmeer and during longer trips the beautiful Wadden area is definitely worth a visit! Skipper René welcome you on board.

René van Reenen
René sails from childhood. Since 15 years he is the owner of historic sailing ships and from 2016 also of the Dankbaarheid, a beautiful tjalk from the 19th century. He does the maintenance himself - and well! So you are always in safe hands with him. Whether the sailing trip is a day to Marken or Volendam or a longer sailing trip to the Wadden Sea: René makes every sailing trip special. He likes to meet new guests, but also friends of the ship are of course welcome with René and the crew. There is always something new to learn about the ins and outs of Dankbaarheid.
