Gouwzee

Sustainable, comfortable, with lovely details. That describes the clipper Gouwzee, built in 1907. The ship gives room to 10 nice cabins, a big day time area and a professionally equipped kitchen, that is half open. It’s so great that the wooden load platform is brought back to be the floor inside the ship. This floor is made of azobe, a type of wood that is rock hard and therefore difficult to craft.

Greenkey Gold: sustainable
The Gouwzee had a Greenkey Gold certificate. The Green Key is an international standard for businesses in the tourism and leisure industry, who are demonstrably serious in undertaking their business in an environmental friendly way. All lighting for instance is LED or CFL. Also, the showers and taps are water saving. Sail more sustainable, without losing comfort though.

If you think ‘I do’: the Gouwzee is an official wedding location in the municipality of Waterland. You can get married in the harbours of Marken and Monnickendam, or on the water in the Waterland. Very special and romantic.
