Avontuur

The fast clipper Avontuur was built in 1909 as a freighter to bring sand and gravel across the rivers Rhine and Meuse to Rotterdam, among other places.  At the end of the 70s the ship was rebuilt into a sailing ship and made suitable for guests, followed in the 90s by a thorough renovation that has made the ship what it is today.

Inside and outside
The whole ship is lightly decorated; lots of glass and use of light colors give the interior a spacious impression. In the saloon copper commemorative plaques are hung reminding of the many competitions and events in which the ship has participated successfully over the past 25 years.

The Avontuur still has the beautiful wooden hatch cover of the past, on which you can lie in the sun. The ship gives you a good view of the surroundings; you see nature and are one with wind, waves and nature around you.
