Oyster Weekend on the Wadden Sea
Sailing, mudflat walking and oyster tasting – a delicious adventure
In September 2025, we’ll host a special weekend sailing trip aboard the Johanna Engelina. This short but unforgettable journey combines nature, sailing and good food — including the rare opportunity to collect and enjoy fresh oysters straight from the Wadden Sea.
We’ll take you to one of the best sandbanks for drying out and harvesting oysters. Once the tide returns, we set sail for Terschelling or Vlieland, where we prepare and enjoy our fresh catch together.
Trip overview
Friday – Welcome aboard in Harlingen
Boarding starts at 8 PM in Harlingen. Meet the crew and your fellow travellers, settle into your cabin, and enjoy a drink and snack onboard — or head into town for a night out. The weekend begins in good company.
Saturday – Oyster hunting and sailing to the island
After breakfast and a short sailing introduction, we set course for a sandbank. As the tide goes out, we’ll go oyster foraging — a unique experience in the middle of the sea. We then sail on to Vlieland or Terschelling, where we’ll prepare and taste the oysters in good company. A relaxing evening follows, either onboard or ashore.
Sunday – Sailing back to Harlingen
We sail back to Harlingen after breakfast. Enjoy one last day on the water before arriving around 5 PM.
