The Sailing ship Brave Hendrik (meaning: a paragon of virtue) is a so called ‘Lemster barge’, facilitated and decorated as a charter ship and suitable for sailing holidays and day trips for a maximum of 12 persons.

The Lemster barge Brave Hendrik was built in 1917 as a yacht on the shipyard Van der Werff near Drachten. After sailing throughout France, England and Belgium, it returned to the Netherlands in 1980. During the eighties, the ship was restored to be used as a charter ship.

The sailing area of the Brave Hendrik stretches from Lake Marker, Lake IJssel, and the Friesian Lakes to the Wadden Sea. Because of its limited draught, the Brave Hendrik can enter almost every harbour in this area.

It is also possible to rent the Brave Hendrik with a skipper (extra charge).
